Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is refuting the Auditor-General Report 2011 that only 19.4 percent of Selangor-born children are registered with the Selangor Children Heritage Fund (Tawas), citing the absence of accurate statistics on the number of births in the state.

He also refuted statistics in the report pertaining to the number of births in Selangor between 2008 and 2011 of 313,706 people.

khalid ibrahim Abdul Khalid said Tawas did not have the accurate figures on the number of births in Selangor because the National Registration Department refused to provide the statistics.

"Therefore, the statistics referred to by the audit report cannot be made the basis to gauge the percentage of registration with Tawas because they include the birth of non-citizens and also children who are not Selangor-born," he told reporters at his office here today.

In another development, Abdul Khalid said the state government would write a letter to the Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa, to postpone the transfer of State Financial Officer Mohd  Ariff Abdul Rahman to Putrajaya.

Mohd Ariff's transfer was supposed to take effect on Oct 15.

"This is because the state government is in the process of completing the 2013 Budget to be tabled at the state assembly sitting on Nov 19," he added.
