The RapidKL’s Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit’s (LRT) operation from Jelatek to Sri Rampai was in a degraded mode this morning until 12.27pm following a technical hiccup in its signalling system.

Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) in a statement issued in Kuala Lumpur today said the LRT service along the stretch was slow as the service had to be  undertaken under a manual mode.

“A total of 29 four-car trains were deployed but the service remained slow and the crowd still had to wait longer to enter a train,” said the statement.

It said the technical hiccup situation arose following an exercise to remove an obsolete part of a signalling system as advised by a signalling system contractor appointed by the company.

“The exercise, which started at 12 midnight this morning and supervised by the signalling system contractor, encountered unexpected difficulties at 4am which disrupted the Automatic Train Operation System for the line,” it said.

Prasarana said RapidKL regretted of any inconvenience arising from the situation.
