A medical officer told the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today that a policeman was injured due to blunt force trauma while on duty during the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28 this year.

Dr Hafizah Zainal Abidin, who was then attached at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) Emergency Department, said she examined Constable Mohamad Kamil Paiman and found he had a on the left side of his head and the left cheek was swollen.

“The patient also had brain concussion and lesions of the muscles,” she said during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor G Jaya Prem in the trial of a technician who is facing three charges, including for causing hurt to a policeman and an Al-Hijrah TV reporter.

NONE On the first count, Mohd Safuan Mamat @ Nordin, 25 ( right ), is charged with committing mischief by damaging a car belonging to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) with a cone while taking part in a riot at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here at 3.50pm on April 28 this year.

He is also charged with causing hurt on the police constable at the same place and time, while the third charge is for allegedly causing hurt on the TV reporter, Mohd Azri Mohd Salleh, 28, also at the same place and time.

Dr Hafizah, who is now with University Malaya Medical Centre, told the court that she could not remember whether Mohamad Kamil had told her the person who hit him or the person who brought him to the hospital.

Earlier, Corporal Muhammad Mohd Noor, from the Photo Branch, Crime Investigation Department of the Ampang Jaya district police, told the court that the DVD recording shown in the court was not edited.

The seventh prosecution witness disagreed with lawyer Azizul Shariman Mat Yusoff that he had intentionally cut the part involving the police going after the public.

“I was in plainclothes and was prevented from recording the scene because the situation was very tense and also because of the many participants of the rally and the police,” he added.

The hearing before judge Mahmud Abdullah continues tomorrow.
