PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan has raised the question of the possibility of MCA president Chua Soi Lek being possessed by "the devil we know" by questioning hudud law basing his views on a SMS from an unidentified individual.

Nasrudin described Chua as blabbering and repeating his old stand on hudud, projecting the image of a "cartoon hero" rising to level false allegations.

"How can a president of a big BN component party behave unprofessionally.

"I find his statement most amusing and without basis as he claimed the hudud implementation would result in 1.2 million people losing their jobs.

NONE Besides, Nasrudin (l eft in photo ) said, his reasoning is very weak and illogical based on an unidentified individual, commenting without understanding Islam's hudud punishment concept.

"Could Chua be possessed by the 'devil we know' resulting in his questioning the hudud based on an SMS from a person whom he does not know," he asked.

"Until now there has been no stern criticism from Umno leaders or from the Umno young ulama. All of them appear to be mum in the face of Chua's comments.

"I hope that the mufti will rise up and make the necessary comments on this issue. Or are they also bound by the wishes of the devil we know," he quipped, expressing the hope that there is no reoccurrence as "we should rise up to defend Islam".

Yesterday Chua was reported to have claimed that 1.2 million Malaysians stand to lose their jobs if PAS implements hudud, citing various business sectors like the gambling resort Genting Highlands and massage parlours as most likely to be affected.

The MCA president posted this claim on his video blog on YouTube and Facebook, saying the figures were the most likely results of a strict interpretation and implementation of hudud in this country.

The term 'the devil we know' was used by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who in his blog cautioned people to be careful of angels and trust the devil they know.

When asked who was the devil, Mahathir admitted it was the ruling coalition.

Mocking Malay rights group

Nasrudin also urged Muslim NGOs to also rise up against what he terms as "serialised disparagement" by Umno's closest ally - MCA and its president.

He then pointedly asked Malay based NGOs Jati (led by former PAS vice-president Hasan Ali) and Perkasa (led by independent MP Ibrahim Ali), to state their stand on the issue.

"Representing PAS Youth, I am willing to give free classes to Chua to first understand the hudud laws.

"I would also like to remind him not to degrade and downplay Allah's laws," he said, adding that PAS Youth calls on the MCA president to apologise to Muslims for his baseless statement.

He also described Chua's statement as slander of the worst kind, urging the people to be careful in their selection of tomorrow's leaders and reject the devil they know.

Meanwhile PKR Youth information chief Lee Khai Loon has also described Chua's statement as rubbish, aimed at diverting the focus on Umno/BN corruption and abuse.

He said Chua had countless times played up the hudud issue to fulfill his narrow political agenda, and does not view the abuses highlighted in the Auditor-General report as a form of corruption.

The PKR Youth information chief described PAS as a democratic political party which is not only open and moderate with the Islamist party's efforts to promote a welfare state-supported by the Pakatan Rakyat.

"We find Chua void of ideas in competing with Pakatan on directing the development of this country," Lee said.
