Khairy: Let's move away from race-based politics

your say RR: Malaysia has reached the stage to dissolve all race and religion-based political parties. If there is a political will, there is a way. We should go for need-based system of governance when tackling poverty and welfare for the poor.

In all other aspects, we should strictly be governed by meritocracy. Only then, will we see this country progressing in the competitive world.

However, I don't think Khairy Jamaluddin, being an Umno national youth leader, will ever stick his neck out for this proposition sincerely.

Asamko: Khairy, show us your worth as Umno Youth chief if you want Malaysians to move away from race-based politics. Umno, being the largest and oldest political party should lead by example.

First, accept any race who wants to join Umno as members and allow them to even contest the presidency if they can garner the support within Umno. Never mind if the non-Malays only make up two to three percent in Umno. Then you can boast that Umno is a multi-racial party.

Anonymous#007: Is KJ insulting Malaysians' intelligence again, or simply proving his own low intellect? He conveniently forgot to mention that there are no non-bumiputera chief executive officers in bumiputera companies.

Policies should be there to help people to stand on their own two feet - therefore they should be need-based and not to feed the greed of "certain ethnic group".

The most important role of the government is to create an equitable environment that is conducive for everyone to thrive.

KJ, the real patriots of this country have sacrificed for two generations to help lift the standard of living of the whole nation. It is about time those that have only been "taking" start to give back to the country.

Then Umno, MCA and MIC should all disband as single ethnic parties promoting racist programmes and form a multiracial party to fight the elections. Then, we should do away with the New Economic Policy (NEP) which is ethnic-based and focused on people-based policies .

Every time they speak, what they say is not what they mean and they never mean what they say.

Stop trying to fool the people all the time, have some respect for your fellow Malaysians who know that you and Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan are totally insincere.

Rightan: I was there yesterday and posed Khairy the question and I wish to rebuke his replies.

1) True, and I agree with him that the race-based politic is reflected in our society, but as leaders we must take the lead in shaping the type of society we want, That is statemanship, which is utterly lacking here.

2) The bottom line of private sector is profit. If you are good, then you become CEO. The Chinese are practical people and it is not their fault if there are fewer qualified bumiputeras for government department.

Not everyone are profit-orientated, so the selection process in the public sector is less stringent and should be more accommodative to non-bumiputeras.

3) There are also many grey areas among non-bumiputera entrepreneurs who are struggling, so why distinguish along racial lines?

Giudice: Maybe Khairy should get the deputy prime minister to declare that he is Malaysian first .

If his own boss is unable to do that, then Khairy's statements are mere rhetoric.
