Police have confirmed that the actual number victims of the roof collapse tragedy in Section 7 in Shah Alam is six and not eight as reported earlier.

Shah Alam ACP Zahedi Ayob said a colleague of the victims identified as Supardi informed the police that only six people were affected by the roof collapse at the bungalow that was undergoing renovation.

The last victim was saved by rescuers at 10.15pm last night.  

The man who was identified only as Kasmuji was sent to the Sungai Buluh Hospital for treatment.

He was found after a second crane was used in the rescue operation.

A victim identified as Totoj Mohamad Anthony died in the incident while those injured were Afifin, Waras, Kabir and Ghadami (one names only were given), all Indonesians in their 30s.

Two more victims were believed to be trapped under the rubble.

All the injured were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

Khadami, who lost a leg in the incident, is reported to be in critical condition.

The other injured victims are reported to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Othman Abdullah said the rescue operation ended at 10.45pm after the sixth victim was saved.

He said heavy-duty cranes helped to lift out fallen concrete slabs and a tunnel was dug to channel oxygen to the sixth victim before he was pulled out of the rubble.

He said following that, rescuers tried to call out to any more victims but there was no response to the calls and that the canine unit despatched to the scene also did not detect any signs of life.

He added that work to clean up the rubble was currently under way.
