After undergoing almost a month of treatment, Kepong Umno Youth chief Norizan Ali today said he believed the attack that almost claimed his life was not a plan to kill him.

Norizan, who is recovering from slashes to the abdomen and hands, denied the attack was related to politics or his fight against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) activities.

“It was only a robbery attempt on me. It has no elements of revenge or politics or the LGBT as speculated by entertainment magazines and bloggers,” he told a news conference at his home in Kuala Lumpur.

Norizan, 41, was attacked by two armed men on Sept 24 after he returned to his home in Jalan Dagang 2/4 Taman Dagang, Ampang, at 3.30am and sent for treatment at the Ampang Hospital.

He said the two men who attacked him with a piece of wood and a sword escaped after they took a rubber bangle from his right hand.

“I told them to take whatever they want. Then they told me in Indonesian that they only did this (attack) because I put up a fight,” he said, adding that one of the suspects was injured in the tussle.

Norizan said he sustained five slashes, one on the abdomen, one on his left shoulder and three more on his left hand and finger.

He said four fingers on his left hand could not move, but the nerves have been reconnected by the doctor.
