Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has lambasted the MCA and the party's media organ The Star for lying about property prices in Penang.

Lim urged MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek to show proof that property prices have increased drastically from 2011 to this year.

According to the Valuation and Property Services Department statistics, the median price of a detached unit in Penang had actually gone down, said Lim.

"It has gone down from RM469,000 in the first quarter of last year to RM415,000 in the first quarter of this year. Where is the 103 percent price increase of a detached unit?" Lim queried.

NONE Chua ( left ) was quoted by the English daily as saying that prices of condominiums and apartments in the state have risen by 411 percent, flats by 339 percent and low-cost flats by 157 percent, while detached units by 103 percent.

Lim said Chua had also also lied that the state government was depriving more than 100,000 local families of the chance to own houses on the island because of the drastic increases in property prices.

"MCA is the Chinese version of Utusan Malaysia that relies on lies, fear and hate to survive," Lim said in a statement.

"MCA is behaving like a philanderer who proclaims that he is moral and upright".

Rape claim an 'outrageous lie'

On his complaints about The Star , Lim said the English daily is behaving no differently from Chua by "lying" that the price of a detached unit had soared from RM1.72 million during the first quarter of last year to RM3.5million during the corresponding period this year.

NONE Lim also took umbrage with Chua for his "outrageous claim" that Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat ( right ) was instigating Muslim men to rape non-Muslim women because they did not dress conservatively to cover themselves up ( tunjuk aurat ).

He added that this is an "outrageous lie" as Nik Aziz had never said so and it was similar to Utusan Malaysia lying that Lim was anti-Malay and anti-Islam.

Meanwhile, Lim is further upset about "another lie", which was MCA's opposition to the Islamic state.

He pointed out that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad had told reporters yesterday that MCA had never objected when Malaysia was declared an “Islamic country”.

NONE Mahathir ( left ) had made the declaration on the brink of the Sarawak elections, on Sept 29, 2001 which saw the DAP quitting the loosely-connected opposition alliance, Barisan Alternatif, days earlier.

The situation led to the opposition's worst showing in the 2004 general elections.

"Chua was already a Johor state executive councillor member at that time. Neither MCA nor Gerakan objected, in fact both supported what Mahathir said," Lim recalled.
