Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) has accused Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim of not respecting the Auditor-General Report 2011 on the Selangor Children Heritage Fund (Tawas).

Its coordinator Mohd Zin Mohamed said Abdul Khalid's suggestion that not all 313,706 births in the state between 2008 until last year were of citizens but constituted a mixture of non-citizens, was unacceptable.

NONE He said this was because the registration under Tawas which was introduced by the state government in 2008 was only 23.7 per cent of the total number of births.

"Is the Menteri Besar implying that almost 80 per cent of the births comprised non-citizens? The pertinent question is, how is the state government going to ensure that those who registered with Tawas will get a RM1,500 return upon reaching 18?

"Till now there has not been any investment by the state government to generate returns of the more than RM20 million to be given to the state's children," he told a media conference at the Selangor Umno building in Shah Alam today.

Mohd Zin further claimed that the RM13.5 million allocation to Tawas had been disproportionately utilised, adding that the BN would introduce a scheme, should it assume the state leadership, that would be more comprehensive and benefit the state's children.
