Only sense of dignity can save Murum natives

VOXPOP 'Is there any doubt about the cause of suffering of the Penan? They are still asking for more of BN. Who can help them now? Not Pakatan.'

The gov't has rejected us, say Murum natives

vox populi small thumbnail NH Gong: "We used to support the government but now we don't know who to choose. We never rejected the government... it is the government that has rejected us," said Penan leader Senang Kalang.

Now, is there any doubt about the cause of suffering of the Penan? They are still asking for more of BN. Who can help them now? Not Pakatan Rakyat. Only their own sense of dignity can do that, if they have any.

Anonymous_rb345: If the natives in Murum choose to accept RM50 and vote BN, sorry to say, they deserve to be where they are today.

Look at how rich the ‘white hair' family in Sarawak and compare their wealth to that of your community.

You all have been voting BN all these years and your future generation will be as poor as you are if you continue to do so.

Tiger: They gave MyKads to Bangladeshis and Burmese for their votes, and the true natives of the land are denied the right to have one. What a disgrace. Only your votes can get rid of this injustice.

Odin: Tiger, may I inform you that many of those in Sarawak who have been voting for the BN have done so out of total ignorance and after being deceived by their politicians.

Unlike in Peninsular Malaysia, communication there is very poor. And I mean very poor. The odd few who have access to information only get it from the MSM (mainstream media), which, as you know, carries government propaganda.

Most parts of Sabah and Sarawak are so under-developed, most of their peoples illiterate or semi-literate and poorer than poor, that you will be shocked.

Hopeful Doc: How can their children's birth certificates state 'citizenship yet to be determined'. When they are born in this land, they should be given citizenship as a birthright.

How come recent Indonesian immigrants are all given citizenship so quickly? This is blatant abuse of power.

Swipenter: Maybe the Murum natives should pretend to be recent immigrants from neighbouring countries and getting their MyKad would be a breeze.

1 Melayu 1 Bahasa 1 Malaysia: Swipenter, your suggestion is impossible - Project IC is only for Muslim immigrants.

Phang: Unusual precedent being set over RM40mil affair

Keturunan Malaysia: Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) adviser Robert Phang, how can the PM be transparent even if he wants to in this case? The whole pool is so muddy that it needs a powerful set of water filters to turn it crystal clear.

Whatsup: Umno elites are above the law. The PM's silence on any transgression means he condones it, but when he openly defends it, it means no one can touch them as they are above the law in Umnoland.

Anonymous #19098644: Nothing will change and Malaysia will continue to slide down the corruption scale index unless we change the BN government. This is because you are asking the crook to catch himself.

They stopped pretending to be impartial, transparent and honest long before 2008; now it is out in the open. Murder, crime, robbery, corruption - all are okay as long as you are part of the decadent cartel known as Umno.

If you happen to be a lowly officer who gives a small contract to your brother, be assured that they will investigate, charge you and ensure you serve time in prison.

If you are part of the former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad's government like former transport minister Ling Liong Sik, where over RM10 billion is involved; then you can rest assured that Mahathir will declare you innocent and the prosecution will drop the case.

BujangSenang: Though people might say MACC is toothless and impotent when it comes to probing high-profile cases, I believe there's nothing much our graft-fighting agency can do so long as the commission is not placed under Parliament.

Pakatan Rakyat should put it in their manifesto that should it take over the federal government it would bring MACC directly under the ambit of Parliament. The question is will Pakatan Rakyat be brave enough to do it?

Kaylie: I hope for whichever party that wins the next GE, a few of the things that they definitely should do is to get able ministers to increase efficiency and productivity, because the current ones are all jokers and clowns.

And most importantly, the new administration must annihilate corruption like what Singapore former PM Lee Kuan Yew did when he was in power. I wouldn't say that there is no corruption there but at least their ministers would think thrice before committing it or face a heavy price.

Ngecui: MACC is an Umno Sdn Bhd.
