State DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow has taken his leader's statement on underperforming DAP elected representatives and the "dirty tactics" of the BN a step further.

Saying that he viewed with concern Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's statement on assemblypersons not performing well in their duties despite the general election looming, Chow said the party would move to act on this.

The DAP would now monitor the performances of its elected representatives even closer, since Lim's admission came as another reminder for DAP's assemblypersons and MPs to shape up.

"We are always receiving feedback from various quarters and we carry out evaluations of our representatives from time to time," Chow, a state executive councillor, said in a statement.

"Stern warnings have also be given to all to perform well and gain the confidence and support of the voters to ensure that we win the seats necessary to maintain the government," he added.

Chow was responding to Lim's recent comment that BN is well prepared for the coming general election in both Malay and non-Malay areas.

'Ensure projects are properly implemented'

Lim called on Pakatan representatives to go to the ground and to get close to the people and to ensure that their projects and programmes were implemented properly and successfully.

Chow said the state DAP leadership would arrange to meet Lim to work out strategies to empower the representatives to make the final push for the coming election.

State DAP deputy chief P Ramasamy ( right ) concurred with Chow that party members must not take BN's preparedness lightly.

"We need to buck up, to make contact with the grassroots to address their problems," said Ramasamy, who is deputy chief minister II.

"We cannot take anything for granted. We have to face this collectively," he added, when met in Kuala Lumpur.

Asked whether Pakatan Rakyat has met as a team, Ramasamy said they needed to meet more often to discuss ongoing issues of the impending election.
