New Umno ID system to bar 'undesirables' from AGM

your say Ferdtan: The coming Umno AGM will be ‘same old, same old'. Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein will still unsheath his keris and kiss it. However, this time it is for its members only and not for live TV telecasts.

As such, they can go on a frolic on their own - to keep Umno members entertained and ‘proud' with their racist ranting, performed with impunity and without fear of backlash from the rakyat for any sensitive issues raised against the minority races.

In local terms, it will be a ‘syiok sendiri' session.

Not Confused: What a hoot! This from a government that keeps banging on relentlessly about transparency. They don't want anyone outside Umno to hear their ranting and ravings.

Any waving of the keris will be done only behind closed doors this time. It matters not though - we all know the mindset of the average Umno member and it is not for consumption by the rakyat.

They are becoming more of a total irrelevance as every day passes. They should really be preparing themselves for a life on the opposition bench.

Thana55: Umno AGMs focus on the wrong things, as evidenced by the delivery of speeches over the last 55 years. Lots of rhetoric, chest thumping but never moving forward. In fact, it's always moving backwards. Its implosion is imminent.

Narrish: Hopefully all the Umno delegates get a minimum of a hotel suite stay, with world-class food for the entire duration of the event and minimal cash at least RM3,000 to RM5,000, with a Samsung Galaxy Tab as a door gift.

I'm sure certain blocs of votes are secured for Umno in the coming general election (GE).

Anonymous #45823198: Why the need to be so secretive? We are going backwards to the extent that our PM is giving his speech to his political party but behind close doors. I don't understand the reason behind this.

If every single ethnic party follows Umno's style then there is no trust among us but suspicions, and divide-and-rule will remain forever.

Abuminable: Umno has revealed itself to be nothing more than a secret society - a criminal syndicate, to be precise, with its activities hidden from public view and scrutiny.

I suggest the top leaders of Umno be arrested under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) in the interest of public safety and the national economy.

After all, that's what the EO is for, to protect innocent citizens from samseng and gangsters.
