Noh's bare denials sow seeds of doubt

YOURSAY 'Noh Omar, feigning exasperation towards the questioners and refusing to answer queries just won't do any more.'

Noh Omar: DAP is after me no matter what I say

your say Timothy: Sekinchan farmers produce one of the best yields of padi. They thrive to reduce production costs without sacrificing yield quality. This is smart business and keeps prices to a reasonable level.

Here comes Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Noh Omar and the crony companies to monopolise and force the sales of their seedlings and fertilisers (in a package deal) to the farmers at their price.

This increases the production costs. This can lead to increase in consumer price. This is greedy crony business.

Asamko: Noh Omar, if your explanation is reasonable, no one will pursue it further. These companies have already got the lucrative contracts to distribute the new padi seeds and yet still want to monopolise selling of pesticides at above market prices.

Noh, please have some compassion for these poor farmers who have to sweat and toil to earn a decent living. They do not get contracts or collect rents like you and your cronies.

Onyourtoes: So are we saying in Malaysia, good governance is tantamount to ‘what they claimed' and ‘what he said'?

There were claims and accusations that the seed supply contracts were not proper. There was no investigation and no findings, and the minister only needed to deny, that's all?

Tholu: To cover scandals and abuse of power, politicians resort to lying. But when it is hugely evident to the people that they are lying, they feign exasperation towards their questioners and refuse to answer their queries.

Noh, know that we were not born yesterday and know too that it is not only now we have encountered unintelligent but unscrupulous politicians like you. Say ‘no' to Noh.

Lamborghini: Noh Omar, you accuse DAP of spinning your explanations. As a responsible opposition, they have done their homework and research and came out with solid evidence.

Your responsibility is to rebut or expose the information provided by DAP if it is not true.

Instead you, as an irresponsible big-headed minister, can only give excuses and denials and even worse, accuse the opposition of spinning the truth when confronted with facts.

Be a man, not a coward and acting like a jaguh kampung (village hero) hiding behind flippant excuses. It is not the opposition but irresponsible ministers and politicians like you, who are spinning the truth.

We are not blind or stupid. Your day of reckoning is near.

The Mask: Let's hear some of Noh's "reasonings": Want to buy the special padi seeds? Must also buy the pesticides.

Want to use other pesticides? Cannot, because the pesticides are specifically designed for the new padi seeds.

Want to buy the same type of pesticide from Thailand? Cannot, because imported pesticides are poisonous and would even kill humans, like his uncle.

There must be thousands of dead Thai padi farmers scattered all over Thailand by now.

And he lamented that DAP is after him no matter what he says. Noh, the Thais may be after you now for suggesting that their pesticides are poisonous.

Wira: Noh, don't swing from one extreme to another. You were given an example of a pesticide from Thailand which is cheaper and probably equally effective.

Your job is to find out whether we can use it or we can use this information to renegotiate with the existing suppliers for a better deal.

This is how we do business to benefit the stakeholders. Your arrogant and illogical replies suggest that you are protecting existing crony suppliers and their loot.

You left out the most important content in your explanation. Was Seri Merbok Sdn Bhd chosen transparently on a open tender basis? Is it an Umno-linked company?

AnonymousA: Why is everything in Malaysia being privatised? No, it is being piratised. When is the BN government going to piratise the police so that all the fines will go into the pockets of some elites from Umno, MCA and MIC?

No Eye See X_X: Noh, if you've given a fair explanation, backed up with strong evidence, no one will want to come after you. Instead, you chose to make rubbish claims backed up with just your word.

What do you think Malaysians are? Only the stupid and your gang will choose to believe you. Come on, just go. You've already taken too many free meals and money from our taxes.

Swipenter: Typical of any Umnoputera. We must accept their explanation without question or else we are troublemakers to them. We have evaluated what Noh Omar said and found it wanting and we want answers for the shortcomings.

Jedi_Who: Why doesn't he mention that PAS is also after him? Using DAP just resonates racial overtones.

CiViC: Simple. They don't give a damn. They knew it when it was tendered, they knew it when it was awarded, they knew it when the farmers complained, they knew it when DAP publicised the matter, they knew it all along that it would be an issue.

But they couldn't be bothered, all they care is for their cronies to be awarded, all they care is to have money into their pockets. Typical Umno.

Ksn: Noh, your answer betrays you. The people, the padi farmers, are accusing you about certain irregularities in the award of the contracts to supply padi seeds.

If you are practicing transparency, good governance, and all is above board, there is no need to say the DAP is after you.

But you know that you have no credible answers. Trying to get away by saying the opposition is after you is childish, and gives you away.

TimeForChange: From one scandal to another - padi, birds' nests, prawns, imported pork, you name it. Do we still need such a minister taking away the people's money under the name of his ministry?

Shame on BN, shame. Better to run this country without ministers.
