Two men staged a road accident before robbing a Terengganu Hot FM radio presenter of his wedding gift amounting to RM5,000, in Jalan Pusara in Kuala Terengganu early today.

The duo escaped with the money in a motorcycle which they had earlier used to hoodwink Mohd Hermansani Aminudin, 29, into thinking he had rammed the machine with his car.

Mohd Hermansani, who is scheduled to marry his sweetheart on Nov 10, said the hold-up occurred at 12.15am.

He told police that he had earlier failed to bank in the money at an automated teller machine as it had closed. Subsequently, he drove his car to meet a group of friends at a shop in Jalan Kamaruddin in Kuala Terengganu.

While driving through Jalan Pusara, he said he saw a motorcyclist and pillion rider suddenly cut into his path and fall off the machine, in front of the vehicle.

“Fearing I might have rammed into the motorcycle and caused the duo serious injury, I alighted from my car to help them.

“Suddenly, one of them attacked me and trained a knife at my abdomen. The other ransacked the car and took the RM5,000 wedding gift from the dashboard,” Mohd Hermansani told reporters.

Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Zamri Shamsuddin confirmed the robbery.
