PAS hopes that Pahang would not have to struggle as hard as Kelantan to obtain the 5 percent oil royalty from Petronas, following the recent discovery of oil reserves in Bertam.

In a statement today, Pahang PAS commissioner Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that this is the Petroluem Act 1974 also applies to oil derived from the PM307 oilfield 160km off Pahang's shores.

"This wang ehsan system is unfair to oil-producing states like Pahang and Kelantan, as it is at the discretion of the federal government," Tuan Ibrahim, ( left ) who is also PAS information chief, said.

Kelantan is currently embroiled in long-standing struggle for oil royalty, which it claims is owed to it from the oil and gas explorations about 150km from its shores.

azlan He said that if Pakatan Rakyat wins over Putrajaya, oil-producing states will no longer have to wait for "goodwill" in the form of wang ehsan, but instead be given even more than the 5 percent stated in the Petroluem Act 1974.

Pakatan promises to pay 20 percent royalty to all oil-producing states, he said, and this will include Pahang.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Tuesday announced that Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Lundin Oil had found additional oil reserves at Block PM307.

He had added that output is expected to reach 17,500 to 20,000 barrells a day in 2014.

Agong to hear about MCA

Meanwhile, PAS Youth will send a memoradum to the Agong, over statements made by MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek that are allegedly anti-Islam.

NONE PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil ( right )said that this is because Chua had failed to apologise and retract his statements against hudud law, as demanded in PAS Youth's Oct 24 memorandum.

"We feel like the memorandum we sent (to Chua) has been binned by the MCA leader. We gave him a week to apologise and retract his statements...and the week is up.

"PAS Youth is now arranging a mega march to the Istana Negara to send a memorandum on this issue to the Agong," he said in a statement.

He said that the event will take place "in the near future, soon after the Agong returns from performing the Haj" .

"It's time the Agong knows about MCA's repeated insults against Islam, which is the religion of the federation," he said.
