Persatuan Mukabuku Pulau Pinang today urged PAS state assemblyperson Mohd Salleh Man to table a motion at the current sitting of the state legislative assembly seeking the implementation of the hudud law in the state.   

Its chairperson, Salleh Ismail, said the association also wanted Mohd Salleh, who is the president of the Penang Islamic Affairs Council, to ensure that the motion was approved at the current sitting of the assembly.

“We want to see whether the DAP state assemblymen are really sincere in their (political) struggle along with PAS,” he told reporters after handing over a memorandum on the motion to Mohd Salleh outside the state assembly.

Mohd Salleh, who is the state assemblyperson for Permatang Pasir, accepted the memorandum about 30 minutes after Salleh and other representatives of the association had gathered at the gate.

Salleh said he was disappointed with the attitude of the state government which had prevented him and the other representatives of the association from entering the assembly premises to hand over the memorandum.

“We came not to demonstrate but to hand over the memorandum peacefully. Both the gates were locked,” he said.

“During the time of the Barisan Nasional administration, the gates were never locked and the public was allowed to enter after getting the security pass,” he said.
