Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said that the state will not make any decision regarding the Automated Enforcement System (AEC) for traffic until it hears explanation from the companies tasked with its implementation.

It was reported that opposition-led states of Selangor, Penang, Kelantan and Kedah had decided to defer the implementation of the AEC which uses cameras to nab traffic offenders.

"The state (Selangor) has a few proposals in mind for them (the two companies) to look at if we agree to the implementation, to show that the project is more equitable to both sides," he told reporters after launching a book at Shah Alam.

Abdul Khalid said that the system should be able to monitor road users in a fair manner, and that revenue collected from speeding tickets should be used to improve traffic and driving conditions in Selangor.
