National number one doubles pair, Koo Kean Keat and Tan Boon Heong, would be among the six bestmen at Lee Chong Wei’s wedding ceremony, said the world number one shuttler.

Besides Koo and Tan, Chong Wei said the other best men would be another two badminton players, Gan Teik Chai and Khoo Chung Chiat, and his closest friends.

NONE “There will be six best men and six bridesmaids for the wedding. I chose six because it is my lucky number,” he told a press conference at DL Fashion, a bridal fashion house in Kuala Lumpur today. His fiancee, former national singles Wong Mew Choo, was also present.

Chong Wei also confirmed that China’s player and his archrival Lin Dan would not be able to attend his wedding.  

“He has sent a message saying he is sorry that he cannot come. He will be taking part in the China Open to defend his title,” said the Olympic silver medallist.

NONE The couple will tie the knot next week in a two-day wedding ceremony on Nov 9 and 10 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Chong Wei said the official wedding registration would also be held next week. However, the date has yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, DL Fashion in its press release said the badminton stars’ wedding would be sponsored by the company at an estimated cost of RM850,000 which included bridal gowns, suits, wedding photos and videos.

“Some 120 dresses and suits will be sponsored for family members, best men, bridesmaids and close friends of the bride and bridegroom, summing up to RM400,000,” said the statement.
