Sin Chew senior reporter Chin Sung Chew retained his post as National Union of Journalists (NUJ) president for the 2012-2014 term after obtaining a 154-vote majority in the union's election here today.

NONE He beat Latip Mat Radzi from Utusan Karya who bagged 557 votes while Chin ( left ) garnered 711 votes, said a NUJ statement here today.

In the election held during the union's extraordinary delegates conference, Taufek Razak (948 votes) from Utusan Melayu and Noor Azmi Othman (801 votes) from the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) emerged winners in a three-corner fight for the posts of vice-president.

Schave Jerome De Rozario (666 votes) from The Star defeated V Anbalagan (563 votes) from NSTP by a 103-vote majority for the post of general secretary.

Meanwhile Kuan Tai Huat (896 votes) from Nanyang Siang Pau and Mohd Hidhir Basarudin (886 votes) of Utusan Melayu were voted in for the posts of deputy general secretary in a three-cornered fight, edging out Malaysiakini’s Abdul Hafiz Yatim (542 votes).

The general treasurer's post was won uncontested by former deputy general secretary Baharudin Reseh Yaacob from Utusan Melayu.
