A total of 256 people have taken refuge at three evacuation centres as floods inundated several villages in Lower Perak since Saturday.
Lower Perak police chief ACP Goh Kok Liang said they were 161 people from 47 families from Kampung Batu Lapan, Batu 4 Kampung Selabak (66 people from 20 families), and Kampung Kunci Ayer Empat (29 people from nine families).
He said they were housed at SK Changkat Jong and two surau, one each in Kampung Selabak and Kampung Kunci Ayer Empat.
The villages were still under one metre of water after Sungai Bidor overflowed its banks following heavy downpour for the past few days, he said when contacted today.
The Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Department, the Welfare Services Department and the police were involved in the evacuation effort.
