PKR central leadership council member Badrulamin Bahron will be charged together with 16 others on Dec 20, following his arrest at a concert organised by former followers of the deviant movement Al-Arqam.

The 17 will in the Kuang Syariah Court that day face the charge of violating the Selangor mufti’s fatwa , under Section 12(c) of Selangor Syariah Criminal Enactment 1995, in attempting to revive the banned movement.

The charge is brought by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais), Malay daily Sinar Harian reported today, quoting Jais director Marzuki Hussin.

“Before this, they were detained for two days straight as part of investigations by Jais enforcement officers.

“Their statements were also recorded on the same day of arrest, before they were taken to the Kuang Syariah Court for the first mention of the charge before being released on bail of RM1,000 with one surety each,” Marzuki said.

NONE Badrulamin ( left ), together with more than 20 others, were arrested during a raid carried out by Jais on the concert last Thursday at Country Heights in Rawang, which the authority claimed was a birthday celebration of the late Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad.

However, the former communications director with the Selangor Menteri Besar's office argued that he had done nothing wrong by attending the gathering.
