The High Court in Kuala Lumpur today dismissed a RM150 million suit by Kelantan prince, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, against the police, claiming wrongful confinement.

Justice Zabariah Mohd Yusof, in chambers, further ordered the plaintiff, who is the younger brother of the sultan of Kelantan, to pay RM40,000 costs.

NONE “The judge held that Tengku Muhammad Fakhry ( right ) was never stopped from exiting or entering Istana Mahkota at Kubang Kerian in July, 2009,” senior federal counsel Azizan Md Arshad told reporters.

He said Zabariah also held that it was only the Bentley car which was stopped, on the orders of the then-Regent of Kelantan (Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra).

Meanwhile, five witnesses testified for the plaintiff, and five others, for the defendants throughout the proceedings which began on Oct 8.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry filed the suit on Dec 9, last year and had named inspector-general of police Ismail Omar, the Kelantan sultan’s chief personal bodyguard ASP Noorazman Ismail, Kelantan police chief Abdul Rahim Hanafi and the Royal Malaysian Police as defendants.
