Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom said today that it would better to air the full contents of the forum in which PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar is alleged to have made statements pertaining to freedom of religion.
"I think if a full broadcast of the said forum is made, the issue of the media twisting facts will not arise.
"We should not play politics in matters related to faith, matters related to the beliefs of a community and also matters that are dear to the Malays and Islam itself," he told reporters after launching Alhijrah TV Kelantan in Kota Baharu, today.
Jamil Khir said this when asked to comment on Nurul Izzah allegedly saying that freedom of religion was applicable to all Malaysians, including the Malays, as was reported by a news portal.
He added that the matter needed to be clarified clearly to prevent any confusion from arising.
The issue became controversial because apostasy among Muslims is not allowed in Malaysia.
Nurul Izzah is also the MP of Lembah Pantai.
