More people have fallen victim to floods in Selangor, Perak and Johor, with the number of evacuees in the three states rising to 1,519 people this afternoon, from 1,469 in the morning.   

According the National Security Council’s floods portal, the number of evacuees in Selangor rose from 1,327 people this morning to 1,355 in the afternoon while Johor saw a rise from 120 people to 138 people.

In Perak, the number rose from 22 people to 26 while there was a slight drop in the number of evacuees in Malacca, from 90 people this morning to 84 people as at 4.32pm.

In Selangor, 344 families are now sheltered in seven relief centres,  four in Kuala Langat, two in Sepang and one in Kuala Selangor.

In Johor, 33 families are sheltered at one relief centre in Batu Pahat while in Perak, six families remain at a shelter in Manjung.

In Malacca, 17 families are sheltering at a relief centre in Jasin.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department said on its website that in Selangor, the water levels at Sungai Langat at Bukit Changgang and Sungai Selangor at Kuala Badong were above the warning level, while Sungai Lenik at Batu Pahat had also breached the level.
