The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) warned of the rising level of rivers in several states, and cautioned the people to be wary of imminent floods.

The level of the Sungai Malim at a diversion in Klebang Besar, Melaka Tengah, Malacca, had breached the danger point of 2.14 metres, it reported on its website this morning.

The department also said that as of 9am, Sungai Langat was above the warning level at two places - Sungai Manggis and Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat - and Sungai Selangor was above the warning level in Kuala Badong, Kuala Selangor, with the readings at 6.02 metres, 4.08 metres and 3.97 metres, respectively.

It also reported that the levels of Sungai Rembau (6.22 metres) in Titian Bintangor, Negeri Sembilan, the Labong Dam (7.60 metres) in Mersing, Johor, Sungai Padas in Tenom (175.85 metres) and Beaufort (7.51 metres) in Sabah, and the river at Sarawak Maritime  (2.56 metres) in Sibu, Sarawak, were above the warning level as well.

Sungai Langat still at danger level

However, in the afternoon, DID has urged people living in Bukit Changgang and Kuala Langat in Selangor to be alert and stay vigilant as the water level of Sungai Langat has registered 3.88m, surpassing the warning level.

However, according to the department's portal, no other rivers across the country were swollen above the warning or danger levels.

Meanwhile, the National Security Council stated that the number of flood evacuees in Perak and Melaka remained at 45 and 16 people respectively.

The number of flood evacuees in Selangor, however, saw a decline to 1,217 people from 1,309 this morning, while Sarawak remained with five people.
