Jalan Ampang-Hulu Langat, which was closed following a landslide near the observation tower in Bukit Ampang, is expected to be reopened later today, Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaludin said.
“We are waiting for the clearing of debris by the JKR (Public Works Department) which began at 10am. We hope there will not be any heavy rain, which can cause further landslides,” he told reporters at the scene.
He said policemen in two mobile police stations, six JKR workers and eight People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel were on standby for any eventuality.
A landslide covering a 50-sq-metre area yesterday forced the closure of the road leading to the observation tower as well as the road from Taman Saujana Ampang and Batu 14 Hulu Langat leading to Bukit Ampang.
