A man 'high' on drugs did the unimaginable. He slit his infant daughter's throat at their home in Felda Panching Selatan near Kuantan yesterday.
In the 9.30pm incident, the 11-month-old child died after her throat was slit with a six-inch knife by the father, aged 29.
Kuantan police chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said the father went into to bedroom where the girl and her two-year-old brother were resting after his wife, aged 26, had left the room, before resorting to the cruel action.
"The man then told his wife and his mother, aged 48, that he took the action because "someone wanted to take him away"," he told Bernama here today.
The man's mother, finding the girl bleeding profusely, rushed her to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here but she was confirmed dead on arrival, he said.
"The suspect was later detained in a car at a traffic light junction near the Batu 10 military camp here. He was with his father and younger brother who were on their way to the police station to get him to surrender," he said, adding that the suspect tested positive for metamphetamine and amphetamine.
Police recovered the bloodied knife at the house.
The case has been classified as murder.
