Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin commenting on a report that Perlis Umno Youth chief Mohsin Yusoff expressed his wish to resign on Facebook , said he has received a report that Mohsin was withdrawing the decision.     

"I heard he is withdrawing the decision," he said.     

Muhyiddin advised party members to be patient and rational, as well as give priority to the party when faced with challenges in politics.     

"We are facing the general election and if there were such development, it would affect the party negatively.      

"If one person resigns...others would have to take over the tasks, and it would affect our machinery and create problems in our party. Need to avoid such matters," he said.     

Meanwhile he said Umno and BN leaders do not fear facing any renowned figure or candidate in the upcoming 13th general election.

Commenting on a report that PAS Youth deputy chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz would contest in the Pagoh parliamentary constituency, currently held by Muhyiddin, he said he would take up the challenge if that was the case.     

"The more, the merrier," he told Malaysian journalists at the end of his visit to Australia on Sunday.     

Earlier, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was reported to be planning to stand in the Pekan parliamentary seat, now held by Prime Minister Najib Razak.     

Muhyiddin said, there was nothing unusual about the strategy of leaders in challenging BN leaders in an election.     

"We, in BN, are not afraid of facing anyone, whether they are renowned figures or otherwise, at parliamentary or state constituencies...we hope the people will give the best evaluation," he said.     

Elaborating on reports that PAS held a prayer for the destruction of Umno, he said it was not a good practice.      

He said Muslims should be praying for the good of their fellow followers and Umno never prayed for the destruction of PAS.      

"We have been taught that what we pray for, should be in accordance to the syariah laws," added Muhyiddin.
