The water level at Sungai Rembau at Titian Bintangor, Rembau, Negri Sembilan and Sungai Padas in Beaufort, Sabah exceeded the danger level at 4pm today and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) advised residents in the area to be wary.

According to the DID Flood Info portal, the water level at Sungai Rembau and Sungai Padas had exceeded the danger levels of 6.44 metres and 8.18 metres respectively.

Heavy showers in Serian, Sarawak had also exceeded the danger level, that is 32 millimetres, the portal said.

Meanwhile, according to the National Security Council’s (NSC) flood portal, the number of flood victims evacuated in Malacca up to this afternoon rose to 372 from 343 this morning while in Selangor, the number remained at 92 in Kuala Langat.

As of this afternoon, only four evacuation centres remained open in Malacca namely two in Melaka Tengah, and one each in Alor Gajah and Jasin while in Selangor, three centres remained open in Kuala Langat.

       

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the Malacca floods operations room reported that as of 5pm, the Alor Gajah district recorded 122 victims from 31 families being placed at the SK Belimbing Dalam.

He said 23 victims from five families who were evacuated to the Kampung Pancur Community Hall had been allowed to return home at 1.30pm after being evacuated to the hall at 5pm yesterday.

In Jasin, 12 victims from four families were placed at the SK Tehel while in the Melaka Tengah district, 52 victims from eight families were placed at Masjid Kampung Tanah Merah and 186 victims from 43 families were evacuated to SK Krubong.
