Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Dr Yee Moh Chai wants the federal government via the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry to resolve immediately the issue on the use of parabolic dish antennas among individuals, especially in Sabah.

He felt that the freedom to access information particularly via the satellite service should be allowed in this country in line with the latest development in information and communication technology (ICT).

Yee, who is also the state Resource Development and Information Technology, said although his ministry had informed the Information Ministry on the matter previously, no decision had been made so far.

“The use of parabolic dish antennas in the interior regions in Sarawak is allowed and I think the deputy information minister (from Sarawak) knows about this matter. In Sabah too, many rural areas need such facilities and thus the same privilege should be given to the people of Sabah,” he said at a press conference to promote ‘Texpo Asia 2012 (Technology and Entrepreneur Expo in Sabah) at Wisma Bandaraya in Kota Kinabalu today.
