Malaysia is on the right path towards transforming its economy to become a high-income nation, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said tonight.

He said the country's socio-economic development plan for 2013 would see a five percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

"Strong GDP growth thus far will enable us to strive for more than five percent economic growth in 2013 and on track to our destination of high income nation," he tweeted tonight.

Malaysia's economy grew by 5.2 percent as compared with 5.6 percent in the third quarter of 2012.

The main contributors to the growth were the services, manufacturing and construction

sectors.
