Several rivers swollen in Selangor, NS and Kedah
The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) today advised people in several areas in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Kedah to be on the alert for floods.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) today advised people in several areas in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Kedah to be on the alert for floods.
It cautioned that the levels of rivers in Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor in Selangor; Jempol, Gemas and Rembau in Negri Sembilan and Sik in Kedah had breached the warning and/or danger points.
According to its portal, as of 11.50am today, the level of Sungai Langat in Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat, was 4.02 metres and Sungai Selangor in Rantau Panjang, Kuala Selangor, 7.45 metres, both above the warning point, and the level of Sungai Bernam at the SKC Bridge in Hulu Selangor was 19.07 metres, which was above the danger point.
The level of Sungai Serting in Serting Ulu, Negri Sembilan, was 73.62 metres and Sungai Rembau in Titian Bintangor, Rembau, 6.40 metres, both above the warning point while Sungai Muar in Rompin, Gemas, Negri Sembilan, was 35.98 metres, above the danger point.
The level of Sungai Chepir at Batu 5 in Sik, Kedah, was 32.86 metres, above the warning point.
Meanwhile, the National Security Council reported on its portal that the number of flood evacuees in Selangor and Negri Sembilan was 18 and 20, respectively.
It said they were being accommodated at two relief centres - the Sungai Nilam surau in Sungai Selisek, Hulu Bernam, Hulu Selangor, and the Kampung Batu Kikir Timur community hall in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.
