Deputy Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Ahmad Maslan said apart from falling world palm oil prices, negative reports on Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) was one of the reasons for the fall in its share price.

NONE “This (negative media reports) is among the causes. (For example) they accused Genting of owning RM400 million shares in Felda.

“The stock depends also on emotions ... apart from the fall in world palm oil prices,” he said during Umno’s 66th annual general assembly at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

FGV’s share price fell four sen, or 0.87 percent, to RM4.55 as at 11.33am today due to expected disappointing third-quarter results, reported Bernama .

An analyst said the expectation of disappointing third-quarter results was due to weak crude palm oil prices and low yield of fresh fruit bunches.

Ahmad, however, continued to blame those who have disparaged the highly trumpeted listing on Bursa Malaysia for the downward turn.

“They are truly evil. I have not seen people in this world as evil as them.

“Have you met (such people?). Has Malaysiakini ever met (such people)?"

Felda mulls suit against critics

Ahmad said Felda is mulling lawsuits against PKR organ Suara Keadilan and PAS organ Harakah for such reports.

The move, he said, was in relation to  their reports on Children of Felda Settlers Association chairperson Mazlan Aliman's statement claiming that Felda was selling palm oil to an Israeli company.

"The opposition are liars and defame people. They accuse Felda of dealing with Israel - that BN has betrayed the people of Palestine by selling palm oil to Israel.

"These newspapers have defamed Felda and by defaming Felda they also defame the government," he said.

NONE Mazlan ( right ) who is also Johor PAS deputy commissioner had claimed that Felda Iffco Oil Products, a subsidiary of Felda had sold its products to Bunge Agribusiness Singapore Private Ltd which he claims is an Israeli company.

However, Ahmad denied this, saying: "It is true we have trade relations with Bunge Ltd, we do not deny. But it is an American company listed in the US and not an Israeli company".

"What they (party organs) are accusing us of is defamatory. How can an Islamist party spread defamatory information? We will sue."
