Miri Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Chin Fah Kui said, although he had decided not to contest in the coming general election, he would consider Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s view on the matter.
The energy, green technology and water minister said, however, the matter was best not discussed in public.
“I am hoping not to contest, but at the end of the day, as (president of) a component party (Sarawak United People’s Party) of Barisan Nasional, I must also take into consideration the view of the prime minister who is leading a team to seek for a mandate from the people to form the next government.
“It is up to the PM (prime minister)... I suppose he will take into consideration, all angles,” he told reporters after meeting his ministry staff at the Auditorium Parcel E in Putrajaya today.
Last August, Chin, who has been Miri MP since 1990, announced that he would not contest in the 13th general election, but would remain as party president until 2014.
