Former Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia deputy president Abdul Rahman Maidin, who joined PAS last Saturday, is an "extreme racist", says MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong.

Abdul Rahman Maidin "I have to say, I rarely meet such an extreme Malay in my life. He is really a one-in-a-million extremist," Wee said of Rahman ( right ) in a blog posting today.

The deputy education minister said he met Rahman during the Second National Economic Consultative Council from 1999 to 2000, in which he was a participant.

"The participants were representatives from various local groups and races, and Rahman was representing the Malay Chamber of Commerce. His extreme racism during the meetings was uncouth," Wee claimed.

Wee said Rahman opposed the economic and education development of Chinese community and his extreme views and stance often led to heated disputes at the meetings.

"What saddened me was that there were people in Pakatan Rakyat welcoming him with cheers. This is a person who once committed to impede the economic development of Chinese and intended to urge the government to destroy Chinese education.

"I can only wish Pakatan good luck," Wee added.

Last Saturday, Rahman handed his membership form to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang during a Pakatan mega rally in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The corporate leader was the chairperson of the Malay Chamber of Commerce, Penang branch, and once held top management posts in several Umno-linked companies, including Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd, TV3 and News Straits Times Press Bhd.

PAS organ Harakahdaily quoted Rahman as saying that his venture into the Islamic party was to help Pakatan to topple the BN in the next general election.
