24 fined, 20 released with warning over offences caught by AES
Twenty-four motorists were fined RM300 each, while 20 others were released with warning by the traffic magistrate’s court in Kuala Lumpur today for not obeying traffic signals monitored by the Automated Enforcement System (AES).

Thirteen other motorists, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trials. The court set Dec 24 and 26 for remention of their cases.
They are represented by five lawyers, including Zulhazmi Shariff and Mohd Fikah Sanusi. The cases were heard separately before magistrate Noorashikin Sahat.
All the motorists were charged with beating the red light in Jalan Klang Lama, Jalan Sepadu and Jalan Ipoh near Kuala Lumpur between the end of September and early October this year.
The motorists, who include an accountant, salesman and lawyer, were charged under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum fine of RM2,000.
