A challenge has been thrown to former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan to lodge reports on his allegations of corruption against his successor Ismail Omar and former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisory panel member Robert Phang with the police and the MACC.

Making the call in a statement issued today, the chief coordinator of PKR-linked NGO Jingga 13, Fariz Musa, said Musa's allegations indicate that both Phang and Ismail have committed "serious crimes".

NONE "As a former IGP and a responsible citizen, Musa must understand and know the laws better. Musa should be blamed if he fails to report Phang ( left ) and Ismail to the police and MACC for their criminal offences.

"He has sufficient information to take appropriate action, especially when it involves millions ringgit of public funds," Fariz said.

"Jingga 13 expresses its support for the courage and exposé by Musa, but it is surprising that the disclosure is not accompanied by the lodging of reports with the authorities as the issues are serious and of high profile."

At a press conference yesterday, Musa accused Phang of threatening a senior police officer to approve an incomplete communications project for the police force implemented by a company that Musa was involved with.

He also claimed that Ismail transferred the police officer out after the latter refused to commission the project.

According to Fariz, the project to upgrade the police communications system from the analog to the digital system was subsequently given to a subcontractor, Asiasoft Malaysia.

"Two shareholders in the company are B System Sdn Bhd and Asiasoft PLC. Asiasoft PLC is registered in Singapore and controlled by Asiasoft Global PLC, which is based in Israel," he said.
