Police have recorded statements from 10 individuals to assist in the investigation into the alleged rape of an Indonesian woman by two police officers in Taman Limau Manis, Bukit Tengah, near Georgetown on Saturday.

Deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has asked all parties to stop any speculation on the case until the investigation was completed.

"The investigation will be thorough and will involve several experts, so wait until the investigation is over and police will announce their findings.

"It cannot be denied that certain parties are trying to bring down the image of the police but do not speculate until all is done," he told reporters here Tuesday.

He said this after presenting a keynote address and opening the eighth forum on 'Crime & Policing in Malaysia', organised by the Social Science Centre of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with the cooperation of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).

Allegedly assaulted for two hours

Khalid said police would not hide any findings in the probe and if it was proven the police personnel were involved, legal action would be taken.

"Nobody can escape from the law and we have proven that when our members were charged over rape cases," he said.

It was recently reported that an Indonesian woman was allegedly raped and beaten by two patrol police officers.

The woman alleged that the taxi she took was detained by a police patrol car and she was held for carrying a passport copy. She also alleged that she was assaulted for two hours before she fainted.

She later had a medical examination at a private clinic in Bayan Lepas and informed the doctor of rape and assault before being referred to the police.
