MCA Young Professionals Bureau chairperson Chua Tee Yong was today called by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for questioning over Talam Corporation Bhd debt restructuring exercise.

 

According to Star Online , he was questioned for three hours at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.  

 

"I have submitted to the MACC my findings about the debt recovery exercise, most of which have been presented in the media.

 

"I hope the MACC will investigate into the matter," he told reporters.

 

When contacted, Chua said that he was called to have his statement recorded due to a report lodged by someone else.

 

He said that the MACC did not disclose who was the complainant nor did he request for such information.

 

Chua had been one of the harshest critic of the debt restructuring exercise, claiming that Selangor had lost out in the deal, which involved Talam repaying its debt to the state in form of assets.

 

According to Chua, Selangor had inflated the valuation of those assets. He had also harassed Selangor over its long delay in tabling a White Paper on the matter.  

 

The White Paper was eventually tabled on Nov 20. After scrutinising the document, Chua claimed that there were discrepancies in the numbers and questioned Selangor on the matter.
