Gua Musang Member of Parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today urged the government to build a highway across Gua Musang to link Kota Baru and Bentong, Pahang.

He said construction of the highway was necessary to reduce traffic congestion as well as road accidents, especially during the festive holidays.

“I believe the government can consider building a highway, with two to four lanes, costing more than RM3 billion.

“I have conveyed the matter to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak during his visit to Gua Musang middle of this year,” he said in his speech at a programme with the people at the Kampung Baru Hulu community hall in Gua Musaang today.

Tengku Razaleigh, who is Gua Musang Umno leader, said there was also a need to upgrade the existing road to a highway due to the increase in the volume of motorists.

He also hoped that the Gua Musang Hospital could be upgraded with the placement of specialist doctors to treat patients with chronic diseases from Hulu Kelantan.
