Burglars broke into a two-storey bungalow belonging to a VIP in Petaling Jaya last night and fled with loot worth about RM2 million.

The 70-year-old victim, who declined to be identified, said also missing from the house was a pistol and 62 rounds of ammunition.

He believed the burglary occurred between 3pm and midnight while he and five other occupants in the house were at a function elsewhere.

“We returned about midnight and saw the kitchen windows were ajar and after entering the house found that three of the bedrooms upstairs had been ransacked,” he told reporters in Petaling Jaya today.

He said other items missing included six branded wrist watches, jewellery, gold shilling collection and cash which were kept in a safe box, as well as several electronic gadgets, including an iPad, camera and computers.

According to the victim, last night’s incident was the fourth time that the house had been broken into since he occupied the bungalow 31 years ago.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya District Police Chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed, when contacted, confirmed the incident, but declined to elaborate.
