Police need not set up a special body to investigate the death of Kapar MP S Manikavasagam’s personal assistant whose body was found in front of a security guard house at the Seri Sinar Apartment in Sunway Kayangan, Shah Alam on Tuesday.

Selangor police chief Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah said this was because it was a straightforward case and police were already wrapping up investigations.

“We will be referring to the deputy public prosecutor’s office soon,” he told a news conference in Shah Alam today when commenting on a memorandum sent by Manikavasagam, demanding Selangor police to set up a special body to investigate the death of KS Natchymuthu.

Manikavasagam and Natchymuthu’s two children handed over the memorandum to the Selangor police headquarters staff officer ACP Nik Mohd Shukri Nik Hassan in Shah Alam today.

In the memorandum, Manikavasagam requested for a special body to be set up within a week to investigate eight police reports made by the victim on the threats made by the suspect before his death.

Tun Hisan also confirmed the victim had made 10 police reports including one on a criminal threat on him.

“Nine other police reports were on the victim denying accusations that he had 22 police reports made against him involving various offences but I am confident the case is not related to politics,” he said.

Natchymuthu, 53, was found dead at about 8.15am by apartment residents after being attacked with a sharp object following a quarrel with a man who is also an apartment resident.  

A 43-year-old man has been detained to assist in investigations.
