Friends and relatives continue to flock the late Dr Lim Keng Yaik’s house at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club in Petaling Jaya yesterday to pay their last respects to the former Gerakan president.

His nephew, Lim Si Boon, said Keng Yaik’s death was felt by all members of the family as he always created a lively atmosphere with his witty persona and smiles.

“The family is still trying to accept the fact that he is gone. He was very much loved by the family and relatives,” he said when met at the house.

Keng Yaik breathed his last at 5.13pm on Saturday at the age of 73.

He left behind a wife, Wong Yoon Chuan, and three children.

Earlier, former Kita president Zaid Ibrahim also paid his last respects to Keng Yaik.

Zaid said Keng Yaik’s death was not only felt because he was a political leader, but was also because they were neighbours.

“We have lost a good leader who had plenty of consideration for others,” he said.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is scheduled to pay his last respects to Keng Yaik today.

Keng Yaik, who held the post of energy, water and telecommunications minister from 2004 to 2008, will be given a state funeral tomorrow.
