A former singer pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today to raping his 14-year-old step-daughter, last February.   

The former singer was charged under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code, which carries a 30-year maximum prison term and whipping, upon conviction.

Judge Roszianayati Ahmad allowed bail at RM15,000 in one surety and ordered him not to intimidate the victim, report himself at the nearest police station once a month and surrender his passport.

She fixed Jan 25 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Dalina Ali appeared for the prosecution.
