Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today urged the people to be patient for the announcement of the 13th general election by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"We know the prime minister will make a decision; it is only a matter of months and weeks (before the announcement).

"(The announcement will be made) at the most appropriate time. Let's wait," he told a news conference after an interactive session with young administrative and diplomatic officers in Putrjaya.

Muhyiddin said Najib had indicated clearly that the 13th general election would be held next year.

"You can speculate on the date. The fun (of speculating) is no longer there when the date is announced," he said.

Asked whether the prime minister would allow the Dewan Rakyat to dissolve automatically in April next year, Muhyiddin said, "I do not know."

The current mandate of the government ends on April 28 next year, and the Dewan Rakyat will dissolve automatically on April 29.
