The father and a friend of a teenager killed after the motorcycle he was riding was allegedly kicked by police personnel on Dec 25, last year, came forward today to give their statements to the police.
They were Zulkifli Hashim, 49, the father of 19-year-old deceased Mohd Azrul Zulkifli, and Khairul Azrisham Abu Kassim, 22, who was the pillion rider on the motorcycle.
Their lawyer Mohd Yusmadi Yusuf, who is also PKR Balik Pulau MP, claimed he was told by investigating officer ASP Lim Chee Koon that the case is being investigated under Section 304A of Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
“I was also informed that it is related to a criminal investigation, different from the preliminary investigation when we first came here on Dec 31, which was (then being investigated) under traffic offence,” he said.
However Malaysiakini has yet to confirm this with police.
Yusmadi said the duo was summoned by police to have their statements recorded after they lodged a police report at the police counter at Universiti Malaya Medical Center on the day of the incident.
They arrived at Petaling Jaya police district headquarters around 11.30am this morning.
