The Shah Alam district police have distanced themselves from a raunchy stage-show by scantily-clad performers at a dinner organised by and for its personnel.

NONE In a press release today, Shah Alam district police chief Zahedi Ayob ( left ) said the performance was not in the organiser's itinerary and implied that it could have been the work of the hotel where the event was held.

“The dance performance was not ordered and it didn't happen during the rehearsal. What happened was a surprise and (done) without the permission of the organisers,” he said.

“The question is, how did it happen and who is responsible? For now, I understand that the organisers had complained to the hotel management that night and I have enquired in private about this.”

Zahedi was responding to widespread criticism, with a photograph of the performance having been circulated on blogs and Facebook in recent days.

He said the closed-door event was a farewell dinner for several officers and that only the criminal investigation department personnel operating in the district had attended it.

“I wish to stress that, since the inception of the police force, it has never organised such an event because it goes against the core values of the police and Islam,” he said.

NONE A red-faced Selangor police chief Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah has personally responded to a Facebook post, saying that disciplinary action would be taken against those found responsible.

“The Selangor police will never support such a mistake,” he said, urging the public not to level further accusations.
