Swimming with the sharks, hunting with the seals
Deepak: Give me immunity, I'll tell all at stadium
Mahashitla:
Pakatan Rakyat leaders should consider carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan's request for immunity as long as it is not cold-blooded murder. Engage him and let him do the exposes.
There may be certain dishonest dealings which will implicate his involvement and that is why he is asking for Pakatan's verbal assurance of immunity even though Pakatan is not yet in power.
It's not an unreasonable request and he has taken a brave stance against the present government. A betrayal by a very close friend has triggered the fire within this man to want to expose the wrongdoings and also to clear his conscience.
I am sure the rakyat want to know the whole truth.
Ramesh Rajaratnam: In the interest of expediency, immunity from penal sentence should be offered.
If a person is smart enough, he will do what's necessary now since the winds of change are blowing.
I'm sure this person knows how to strike a self-preservation deal as he has been swimming with the sharks and hunting with the seals...
iMtBlanc: There is everything to gain for Pakatan to give Deepak what he has asked regarding immunity.
OMG!!: What immunity is he talking about? If what he was alleging is the truth and resulting in cases being proffered against the accused persons, he would have become a star witness with all the protection he wanted.
On the other hand, if he was abetting the accused persons and that they had committed murder or other serious crimes that he had alluded, Pakatan would be condemned - just as the ruling parties are being condemned - should it offer him the so-called immunity just to win the elections.
Ksn: I hope Pakatan does not make the mistake of making any such declaration that Deepak is asking for. Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has already made a mistake of saying that when and if he is PM, he would not go after Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
When Anwar said he has no personal vendetta against the man, that is his choice and it shows his good heart. But he has no business or right, even as the PM, not to go after all those who have plundered the country and abuse their authority and public funds.
So Anwar and Pakatan leaders, do not fall for Deepak's gimmick. When Pakatan in power, do whatever is appropriate. Do not jump the gun.
Just remember that our people will question and punish Pakatan, as we do with Umno, if you do anything to disappoint our expectations, high as it is.
Anonymous_3ff5: This is strictly a personal matter between Deepak and the powers-that-be. He entered into the inner circle on his own accord and made his day.
But why when he came out a loser, he wants to make demands? What has Pakatan got to do with all his dirty dealings to demand for immunity? Can he guarantee that by spilling the beans, Pakatan can gain Putrajaya?
Apache: Pakatan, forget about this carpetman. If he is really interested to bring down the current corrupted regime, he can do it freely without any pre-conditions.
Any law-abiding citizen would do the same, without fear or favour. Let him has his drama if he continues to bait the audience. Soon he will be the only one in his press conference.
Deepak, reveal all now or you will be forgotten.
Jiminy Qrikert: Spoken like a true businessman, Deepak's deal has more profit for him than for Pakatan or the rakyat. Consider these:
(i) Even just being in the opposition and not yet the government, Pakatan is already able to dig up so much dirt about Umno-BN crooked leaders. Just imagine what Pakatan can do once they are in Putrajaya. They don't really need Deepak's help for this.
(ii) What Deepak can provide, someone somewhere will be able to provide as well. With Pakatan in power, they will come forward. Like Deepak, they too need to be seen to be Pakatan-friendly now. There will be no shortage of whistleblowers.
(iii) All the Umno-BN crooks who are guilty of murder and corruption will flee the country and hide. Even without Deepak, this alone is evidence that they are guilty. All Pakatan needs to do is to follow the money trail.
(iv) Deepak cannot be trusted. He is capable of playing both ends to be safe. What he reveals may just be a plot to complicate matters and muddy the waters.
(v) And finally, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli is doing a great job.
Just&Fair4All: Actually, isn't Deepak offering us a good deal? Think again, how many persons are brave enough to come out to spill the beans on PM Najib Razak.
In such a critical situation, every little help is a big help and what more, when it comes from someone who is definitely involved in things we yet to know.
Deepak is merely asking for immunity when Pakatan comes to power. Whether Pakatan can come to power is still not certain and if Deepak is willing to help in the cause, why don't we accept him.
Even in very heinous murder cases, we have accusers turn witness to ensure that the case against the other accusers will succeed in court, if not it may be too weak.
Can't we also do the same here? What have we got to lose?
Anonymous_3e86: Even Deepak is fearful of the imminent change in power. Change will come. The only way BN can stop this is through massive cheating in the coming GE13.
This is a known fact. The Election Commission is there is assist BN to remain power. Only an overwhelming support for Pakatan can cancel out this cheating.
Slywolf: Give him immunity. Every living Malaysian wants to know how dirty BN can be.
