Right-wing movement Jalur Tiga (Jati) president Hasan Ali today set three conditions to bring to an end the ‘Allah' issue.

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, he said the conditions were that those who called for the word ‘Allah' to be used in the Bahasa Malaysia version of the Bible must be ready to heed existing provisions in the federal constitution and state laws regarding the issue, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng must make a public apology for making this call and that all quarters must respect the decision of PAS' Syura Council forbidding the use of the word in the holy books of non-Muslims.

Lim, who is also the Penang chief minister, had allegedly made the statement when giving a Christmas speech last year.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress president Syed Ibrahim Kader said non-Muslims should not get involved in Islamic affairs as this could lead to disharmony in the country.

While in George Town, Penang Muslim League Youth chief Noor Mohamed Mohamed Abdullah called for the use of the word to be codified in civil laws to make it exclusive for Muslims.
