Do you want to hear good music and learn about your constitutional rights especially freedom of assembly at the same time?

Then why not head to Kolej Damansara Utama this Saturday, where the Bar Council is organising the Rock 4 Rights 2 with the theme ‘Associate, Assemble and Articulate'.

NONE Bar Council constitutional law committee chairperson, Syahredzan Johan ( left) said the fun event is specially designed for the younger generation to educate them on their rights as guaranteed by the Federal Constitution.

"It is an opportunity for them to listen to good music and at the same time understand their individual rights, along with freedom of assembly and freedom of association. The music festival is directed at creating a fun atmosphere as people are informed of their rights," he added.

He said music would help attract young people who might not know, or do not care or know little of their rights and who can then be educated on their rights under the federal constitution while listening.

Galvanising youth the fun way

Syahredzan said hope is to with this create a younger generation more aware of their individual rights and be involved in activism.

"The Malaysian Bar believes all Malaysians need to be informed in order to be able to consider for themselves which viewpoints on the constitution should be accepted and upheld.

NONE "They must also be armed with an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of the institutions of government, and the rights and responsibilities of every Malaysian," he said.

There will be two stages set-up for the event to provide good music and stand-up comedy and a film screened by Komas. The shows are scheduled for Saturday from 3pm to 11pm.

Syahredzan said that this is the second successive year that the Bar is organising such an event, the first was held in Penang in 2011

There will be music performances, stand-up comedy acts, among others , besides the booths for the younger generation to gain information, exchange and articulate their views.
